Opportunities at Newport Land and Law

The biggest challenge for most people in the modern workplace is juggling. Even if you don’t work in the circus, life is complicated.  Whether its children, dogs, haircuts, doctors, bills, mortgages, elderly parents, or gambling habits, it all has to be sorted out and most people who work do not lack the time to do things, but the flexibility.  For example, my lovely hairdresser Oliver does not want to be clipping my locks at 21:00 hours on a Wednesday evening and so I need to be able to leave work during the day to get my hair cut, or I need to go on a Saturday morning (a time when I have umpteen other things to do at home or with my family).   Whilst there are some careers which do not allow for that flexibility (like being a nurse in Intensive Care) I choose not to work in an environment where I cannot do what I want to do when I want to do it.   There are clearly caveats.  Flexibility needs to go both ways.   The work has to be done and the clients have to be looked after and, where work is concerned, the clients are my priority.  But if I don’t look after myself then I can’t look after my colleagues, and then, in turn we can’t look after our clients.

We are an organisation that is growing quickly and encourages development at your pace.  We actively look for your input to improve and progress the way things are done.  If you want to work in an environment that focuses on its people to drive a better business then Anna, Clive or Ellen will be more than happy to have a chat with you about whether we can help.

Junior Office Administrator vacancy

Do you want to work 25 hours per week in a fun and flexible team at a growing business?

Can you cope with office dogs, expectations of collective challenge, and the need to sometimes do more than is written down in your job description?

Then you might be just what we’re looking for!

Newport Land and Law has grown at an incredible rate and now needs our very own Junior Office Administrator to help oil the wheels of our machine.

Our clients aren’t ordinary people, we’re not ordinary lawyers and we’re looking for no ordinary Junior Office Administrator.

We are a specialist law firm, helping clients to buy property (a home and commercial) and advising on personal law such as wills and lasting powers of attorney. We care deeply for our clients, and everything we do is about making sure they understand the decisions they are making and the processes they are involved in.

Our team of consultants is based all over the UK and mainly work remotely. You’ll be supporting them, through working with our Office Manager, and our Managing Director and Practice Manager with daily tasks such as:

  • Archiving and general administration
  • Research
  • Sorting and allocating the post
  • Diary management
  • Client hospitality

You’ll also be one of the public faces of Newport Land and Law, providing a warm welcome when clients come for meetings at the Nostell office, answering the phone, and redirecting and responding to emails.

We value attitude over experience. There’s no such thing as a silly question here, and as a small team we all have to muck in. The boss makes more than her fair share of tea and also provides the biscuits! There is scope for the role to grow as the business does, so if you love to keep things organised and want to join a lively team, this could be just the role for you.

Benefits

  • Free parking and access to lovely walks at our office at the beautiful Nostell Priory, Wakefield
  • 20 days holiday pro rata plus bank holidays and your birthday off
  • The opportunity to gain high quality administrative experience, with access to a wide variety of relevant training opportunities
  • A flexible attitude to working hours, including a four-day week, – all reasonable requests considered
  • Subject to a six months probationary period

How do I apply?

For an informal chat about the role, please contact Ellen Wood, Practice Manager, on 07980 299 649 or opportunities@landandlaw.co.uk
