Consultant Solicitor : Residential and Commercial property
James describes himself as one of those lawyers who looks for solutions, not problems, which we like – it’s very much the Land and Law way of dealing with clients and their transactions. He has over 20 years’ experience in the property industry, working with both residential and commercial clients. Being dual-qualified as both a solicitor and a chartered surveyor, he knows his stuff and balances the technical knowledge needed to be a lawyer with a commercial sense that allows him to see the wood amongst the trees.
James trained in London and then cut his teeth at one of the “big 6” law firms in Leeds, before running his own practice for many years, so has expertise across the whole property sector, from conveyancing for private individuals, to commercial work for organisations involved in development, investment and landlord & tenant.
When he’s not got his head buried in work, you’ll find James battling his garden, which apparently keeps growing (not sure why that comes as any surprise to him), doing stuff with his kids, walking the dog and generally trying to keep fit on a bike or in the gym. He’d actually like to spend most of his spare time skiing or snowboarding, but the unfortunate absence of mountains in Yorkshire has put paid to that as an occasional luxury – though his wife would claim his whole year is planned around skiing! Rumour has it, he’s even completed transactions on the side of a ski slope, so we know he’s dedicated to his clients.
