Trainee solicitor Georgia Becket has been shortlisted in the ‘Trainee Solicitor of the Year’ category at the Yorkshire Legal Awards. The ceremony is set to take place on the 5th of October 2023 in Leeds, where we will find out the results after a tense couple of months of waiting.
The Yorkshire Legal Awards launched in 2000 to recognise talent across the region; the awards evening is a chance for professionals to come together for a night of celebrating, networking, and socialising. The awards are judged by a prestigious independent panel made up of experts from across the Yorkshire legal community.
Georgia has been with us since October 2020 – after starting out doing a week of work experience, she has never left! She originally worked on legal administrative tasks, case management work, holiday cover for our office administrator, and shadowing the solicitors. This evidences her ability to understand what excellent work looks like in all areas of the firm, which has had a positive impact on her initial standards when commencing her training contract.
Since starting her training contract with us in September 2022 her standard of work has only excelled. Georgia has shown commitment and persistence to her learning from the beginning and is constantly wanting to learn more. This is shown in her work which is always approached with enthusiasm.
Supporting this we have received feedback from several clients one being the following “Georgia was absolutely superb for us in the acquisition of our house, which had some huge challenges. Georgia has taken the project on without any complaints and has demonstrated a maturity in how she has handled a number of extremely difficult elements. Georgia was always on hand no matter what time of day, she really has delivered above our expectations and we look forward to working with her even more in the very near future”
Georgia commented “I am so excited to attend the Yorkshire Legal Awards in October as a finalist for Trainee Solicitor of the Year! To achieve this, having only started my training contract a year ago, is beyond anything I expected. I am grateful to be able to work with such wonderful colleagues at Newport Land and Law who continuously support and encourage me, and I am looking forward to what the future holds.”
We are all very excited for the awards night and look forward to celebrating Georgia’s amazing work, no matter the outcome.
